- ➤ On Saturday, Project Give Back to Community hosted its Breakfast, Belles and a Band Flapjack Fundraiser to honor trailblazing women and raise money for youth programs during Women’s History Month. CBS 6’s Reba Hollingsworth received an award for her lasting community impact—she was one of the honorees as the event raised $6,500 to help fund 80 scholarships. 6 News
- ➤ Children at St. Mary's Hospital received a delivery of toys on Saturday from the fifth annual Kellan’s Legacy of Love Toy Drive, honoring the 14th birthday of a Midlothian boy. Donna Reynolds started the drive in 2021 after losing her son to a rare mitochondrial disease and it collected new toys from January to March to bring comfort during procedures. 6 News
- ➤ Underground Kitchen plans to open a food pantry at the Annie Giles Community Resource and Training Center to offer nutritious meal boxes and cooking instructions for East End residents—Councilwoman Ellen Robertson said the program will address local health needs and run five days a week, with a midsummer start. - ➤ Antonio Scales Jr. (27) was arrested on March 26 by Henrico County Police and banned from the campus after posting death threats on social media that claimed a visiting speaker planned a human trafficking abduction (next court date is April 4 at 8:30 a.m.). The Collegian
- ➤ A man died Sunday after officers responded to a shooting on the 1800 block of E Main St—he was taken to a hospital and later died while police investigate the cause. 12 On Your Side
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ University of Richmond senior Trey Creamer found inspiration for the winning salad dressing idea Envee when his homemade pesto pasta and salad spurred creativity in the Benchtop Innovations class—an initiative by the business school where 16 groups pitched ideas. After judges selected Envee, all the students will join the startup to sell the product—an effort set to reshape the salad dressing market. The Collegian

- ➤ The City of Richmond’s Office of Equitable Transit and Mobility will host a public forum on April 9th from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Richmond Police Department Training Academy at 1202 W. Graham Road to review alignment options for the Fall Line Trail through Bryan Park. The project will expand access to Bryan Park as it becomes a major trailhead with parking, bathrooms and picnic areas. 12 On Your Side

- ➤ Starting today, Capital Area Health Network will no longer offer HIV/AIDS services to 500 patients—its Wellness Center closed on March 24. Patients are urged to contact the state’s Ryan White advisor to arrange care transfers from funding issues. 6 News
