BUSINESS NEWS

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The FAA announced that 7,500 applicants are now being referred for testing to fill a nationwide shortage of 3,000 air traffic controllers — including 133 needed from nine Virginia facilities. HEALTH NEWS

  • In January, VCU Medical Center lost its regular water supply for seven days and staff had to carry water up elevators to flush toilets while canceling surgeries, which cost about $20 million in revenue but did not harm patients. The hospital later purchased 2.5 million gallons of water and is adding water tanks for future outages — a step aimed at preventing another crisis.  Richmond Times-Dispatch
