  • A Richmond mom has released a public service announcement that warns drivers to avoid distracted driving. Julie Garner started Project Yellow Light after her son died in a car crash—her short film 'Love Story' debuted at 9 a.m. Wednesday to remind young drivers to focus on the road.  6 News
  • The Virginia Home—an established nonprofit that cares for people with disabilities—is building a new 196,000-square-foot center on a 70-acre campus in Hanover County to expand services for its 130 residents.   • Maymont Farm welcomes two fully weaned baby goats—Tiger Lily and Larkspur—from Hanover County this spring for Spring Break week, and they will be on view daily from 10 am to 5 pm from March 31 to April 4 and on April 19 for Dominion Energy Family Easter. GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Richmond’s free bus service helped nearly 11 million riders last fiscal year but may end this summer if its one-time grant and corporate funds expire. Transit officials plan to seek new sponsors and grants—efforts meant to close the funding gap and keep the service running.  Virginia Mercury
  • Residents, workers and students in Richmond can vote on local projects until April 15 using ranked choice voting—a process that will decide how to spend $3 million in funds. The proposals include building shelters, splash pads and repairing storm drains, and anyone 14 or older may vote in person or online.  6 News

HEALTH NEWS

  • Bon Secours and Cigna reached a multi-year agreement that keeps patients’ services in-network and prevents a lapse in coverage for 30,000 individuals. The deal was finalized after a 24-hour extension Tuesday — following months-long negotiations — ensuring continuous access to health care.  12 On Your Side

  • Anthony Oppermann was named General Manager of the Richmond Flying Squirrels while Ben Rothrock remains chief operating officer to focus on constructing CarMax Park, the new stadium planned to open in 2026.
