- ➤ On Sunday, 25 children and their families received custom adaptive bikes and riding lessons at AMF Bakery on West Laburnum Avenue as part of a program by REACHcycles— a nonprofit founded by Army veteran James Howard to help kids ride. 6 News
- ➤ Ashland Fourth Fridays returns every fourth Friday from May to August with free concerts, artisan vendors and farm-to-table food in historic downtown Ashland. The event will offer extended boutique hours, live music by groups like The Generations Trio and Life Support — and a song contest that awards a recording session, a live performance and radio airplay on K101.2 POP. 12 On Your Side

- ➤ The Virginia Museum of Fine Arts opened its new exhibition 'Frida: Beyond the Myth' on Saturday with a free event called ¡FridaFest!—featuring art demonstrations, live music, and food trucks in its Robins Sculpture Garden and Cochrane Atrium. The show runs through Sept. 28 and displays more than 60 works—along with photographs that connect visitors with Frida Kahlo’s art and heritage. 6 News

- ➤ Students in a 10th grade class at The Steward School painted ceramic butterflies provided by the Virginia Holocaust Museum on East Cary Street as part of The Butterfly Project, which memorializes the 1.5 million children killed in the Holocaust. Their painted pieces will be fired in a kiln and added to a new memorial mural — a project that lets the students connect with history. Richmond Magazine

- ➤ Richmond City Hall is a taxpayer-funded building that limits access to most offices for safety—only public services on the first floor are readily available. An attorney explained that the city’s security measures are legal because the facility is treated like private property. Richmond Times-Dispatch
- ➤ Today, city officials at Richmond City Hall will review a proposed $3 billion spending plan and water outage findings—while School Board meetings address salary increases, school start changes and adjustments to Head Start seats. County meetings later this week in Chesterfield, Hanover and Henrico will discuss budget proposals, superintendent appointments and tax rate changes—including a potential hike on data center equipment fees.
