- ➤ Ten VCU graduate programs are among the top 50 in U.S. News & World Report’s 2025 Best Graduate Schools rankings announced today — five from the College of Health Professions lead the list. - ➤ Professor Laura Middlebrooks from VCU took a fall research trip to Spain — collecting over 2,000 photos and hundreds of videos of public art showing protest and local history — and will use her work to build a new course linking Spanish art with Richmond monuments. - ➤ Due to more cell phone problems, Fairfield Middle School has changed its rule so that phones must be kept away all day and will be confiscated if not followed—held until parent pickup between 3:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. The new rule is in effect until May 16. 12 On Your Side
- ➤ Fairfield Middle School has set a stricter cell phone rule after a rise in issues—students must keep their phones off and away every day from April 7 until May 16 to help focus on academics. WRVA
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Southside ReLeaf launched the Go with the Flow mapping project to gather community photos of flooding from March 20 until Labor Day. University of Richmond students will use the photos to build a flood map for city leaders to seek funding for stormwater improvements—especially in areas lacking green space. 12 On Your Side

- ➤ A state agency has narrowed five potential sites in central Virginia for a new youth prison that will cover 30 acres and house up to 96 youth offenders. Local officials in Hanover oppose a state-owned location due to narrow roads and limited utilities—while Chesterfield leaders support the project and the General Assembly will decide the final site.
