- ➤ A Richmond man, 30-year-old James Fountain Jr., was arrested on April 8 before 9 a.m. in Colonial Heights after allegedly stealing over $30K in merchandise from Southpark Mall and assaulting a witness; he now faces multiple felony charges. 12 On Your Side

- ➤ On Wednesday, TSA officers protested at Richmond International Airport over a federal decision to end their collective bargaining rights—union leaders warned the change could reduce staffing and affect safety at security checkpoints. Virginia Mercury
- ➤ A final report on Richmond’s Water Treatment Plant outage found that lack of training, delayed projects and poor communication worsened the crisis that left residents without water for days. Mayor Danny Avula said the report’s recommendations—improved staff training and clearer emergency procedures—will guide changes to prevent future problems. Richmond Free Press
- ➤ Richmond residents can vote on how to spend $3 million on local infrastructure projects using ranked choice voting—this People’s Budget was set by City Council in 2019 to let voters 14 and older rank project ideas like bus shelters and tree plantings until Tuesday, April 15. - ➤ Richmond city leaders and builders broke ground yesterday for the Diamond District, a 67 acre development that will transform the area around the Flying Squirrels ballpark into a new neighborhood with shops, housing and park space. The project by Thalhimer Realty Partners and the City Economic Development Authority will include a new retail building and parking while offering community benefits such as affordable housing and union jobs—moves aimed at drawing residents back into the area. 12 On Your Side
