- ➤ Richmond veterans from all branches held an annual gala fundraiser on Saturday on Sledge Street and raised over $25,000 to support community programs including scholarships for teens, awards for JROTC students, Toys for Tots and suicide prevention. The nonprofit led by Alexander Taylor Jr.—a retired Army colonel—welcomed all retired service members and plans to continue helping both youth and veterans. 6 News
ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ A large fire broke out at a feed store in Powhatan County Saturday evening — firefighters arrived around 7:00 p.m. to find the building fully engulfed in flames as crews from Goochland, Chesterfield and Amelia counties helped battle the blaze. 6 News

- ➤ Police responded at 7:30 a.m. to a report at the 2200 block of Fairfield Court in East End—officers found a man fatally shot and several cars hit by gunfire. Richmond Times-Dispatch
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ On Saturday, Chesterfield County hosted the third annual Earth Day Festival where families enjoyed outdoor activities, recycling displays, food trucks and live demonstrations on local environmental practices + local groups provided hands-on tips for community care. The free event helped residents prepare for Earth Day on April 22 by showcasing county departments and local businesses focused on environmental stewardship. 6 News
