CRIME NEWS
- ➤ A driver wanted for critically injuring a woman in a Henrico neighborhood crashed into a building on Richmond's Southside Sunday afternoon while police chased him, and officers said the victim suffered a neck wound and was taken to hospital while at least two children were in the car — investigators are still searching for the suspect. 6 News
- ➤ Police said a person was shot on the 1900 block of Redd Street in Northside Richmond early Sunday near 2 a.m. and was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries, with no suspects named. 12 On Your Side
- ➤ A person was hospitalized after a shooting in the Mosby Court neighborhood on Sunday morning and Richmond police are investigating the case. Richmond Times-Dispatch
- ➤ Henrico Police responded to a shooting report at the 11000 block of West Broad Street when a neighbor’s doorbell camera captured gunfire around 3:30 a.m.—two groups argued in a hotel parking lot and one person fled, leaving five or six cars damaged but no injuries. 6 News

- ➤ Richmond’s iris has been the official city flower for over a century and grows in public gardens like Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden and along the James River — local voters chose the flower in 1921. - ➤ Around 20 high school students from Blue Sky Fund volunteered Saturday at the UMFS campus in Richmond to prepare garden beds by mulching, weeding and planting vegetables and herbs — a project that supports youth education in the city. 6 News

- ➤ Today, Richmond City Council meets at 1 p.m. in City Hall to review the capital improvement plan for fiscal year 2026 and again at 6 p.m. to consider an ordinance for commission stipends while later this week the Planning Commission will vote on a master plan for The Shockoe Project and a committee will review the real estate assessment freeze and collective bargaining deals—key discussions that set the course for the city’s future projects. - ➤ Richmond’s planning department is set to present a zoning amendment to City Council this spring that would ban new tobacco, nicotine and hemp stores from opening within 1,000 feet of homes, schools and day cares—limiting new establishments mainly to commercial and manufacturing zones and paving the way for similar restrictions on cannabis outlets if they become legal.
