- ➤ On Saturday morning, after a fire gutted a home on Longtown Drive, Chesterfield Fire and EMS controlled the blaze in under 40 minutes while a young boy in firefighter gear met Firefighter Nathan Verlander — he learned firefighting techniques as officials said the accidental electrical fire displaced two residents. 6 News

- ➤ An investigation is underway after a pregnant woman was fatally shot in Richmond's East End on Sunday afternoon — officers responded to the call at the 2100 block of Fairfield Avenue shortly after 2:40 p.m. and she was later pronounced dead at the hospital. 6 News

- ➤ Jazz musician Chan Hall released his new album On Broad & Meadow on April 18, a tribute to Richmond’s old Emilio’s and neighborhoods like Shockoe Bottom and Scott’s Addition. His album is available on streaming platforms now — and he will perform at Révéler in Carytown on Sept. 20 and at the Second Street Festival in October. Richmond Magazine
- ➤ Martha Stewart spent Saturday evening at the Richmond Forum at the Altria Theater where she told stories about her long career during an interview with Soledad O’Brien—she recalled memories from a tough upbringing and surprising moments from her work. - ➤ Richmond city planners proposed a zoning amendment today that would ban new vape and hemp shops by requiring new retailers to be at least 1,000 feet from schools, homes, child care centers, and places of worship (existing shops will remain allowed). - ➤ At a City Council meeting on April 14, a teacher and a community member were told not to name Mayor Danny Avula because the rules of public comment prohibit it—legal experts say this may limit free speech and could violate the First Amendment.
