- ➤ Lego Group said it will build a $366 million warehouse and distribution center in the Crosspointe Business Centre in Prince George County—this is the first new build at the center since Rolls-Royce left in 2021. 6 News

- ➤ Today, the Carpenter Theatre wraps up the world premiere of the opera 'Loving v. Virginia' that tells the story of Richard and Mildred Loving whose landmark case ended bans on interracial marriage—composer Damien Geter spent four years creating the work. The production, co-commissioned by the Richmond Symphony and Virginia Opera, blends musical styles to connect audiences with this historic tale. 6 News
- ➤ The Virginia Museum of Fine Arts will temporarily close galleries displaying the Lewis Collection Mid to Late 20th-Century Art and Art Deco and Art Nouveau works starting May 13 as it prepares for its largest expansion and renovation project. The museum will remain open daily—artworks from the affected galleries will travel internationally for safekeeping while new gallery spaces and a special events area are scheduled for completion by late 2028. - ➤ On Friday, hundreds gathered at the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart in Richmond to honor newly elected Pope Leo XIV—the first American pope—with yellow cloth draping the entrance. - ➤ The Richmond Finance Department sent over 200 incorrect personal property tax bills after a conversion glitch made car assessments for vehicles over 20 years jump from about $2,300 to over $20,000 + corrections are being posted to customers' online accounts and remailed while officials work to improve data and controls, and the error affected 0.1% of customers. 6 News

- ➤ City Auditor Riad Ali’s May 9 audit found that Richmond Retirement System paid over $550K in benefits to 44 deceased retirees over nine years due to outdated procedures—$415K remains unrecovered. RRS is updating its procedures and has added a new tracking system—weekly meetings now monitor overpayments and recovery efforts. VPM

- ➤ The Virginia Department of Health issued a fish consumption advisory for the Chickahominy Watershed due to high PFOS levels in fish such as creek chubsucker, chain pickerel, largemouth bass and sunfish. Residents are advised to avoid eating swamp fish and to limit river consumption to two meals per month—while recreational activities remain safe—. 6 News
