- ➤ Synagogues in Richmond are reviewing their security protocols after two Israeli Embassy staffers were killed in D.C. Rabbi Dovid Asher said local leaders must stop hate-filled language — he warned that such rhetoric can lead to more violence. 12 On Your Side

- ➤ Richmond community activist Eddie L. Radden Jr. died peacefully on May 14 at 96 after a long life serving in civil rights and as a Capitol doorkeeper. His wake is scheduled for May 30 at Mimms Funeral Home and his funeral will be held on May 31 at Second Baptist Church. Richmond Free Press

- ➤ A City Public Works employee was shot at 1:36 a.m. near N. 18th St. while working early Tuesday and taken to a nearby hospital with injuries not considered life-threatening as detectives investigate a confrontation in which gunfire hit a departing vehicle; Mayor Danny Avula said he will address the issue through his Office of Gun Violence Prevention and urged anyone with information to call Major Crimes Detective W. Hartley at (804) 646-4314 or Crime Stoppers at (804) 780-1000. Richmond Free Press

- ➤ The Valentine museum offers 90-minute guided tours of Hollywood Cemetery where visitors learn about local history by walking winding paths and viewing notable graves—tours are offered every other Saturday and weekly in July and August. The museum also presents the Fancy Costumes, Characters, and the Richmond Masque exhibit that shows how Richmonders have dressed through the years and runs until January 2026—this exhibit gives a close look at local style history. 6 News
- ➤ Camp Holly in eastern Henrico County is now protected by an easement agreement between the Dowdy family, Capital Region Land Conservancy — and the Virginia Department of Historic Resources to preserve its 139 acres of drinking water source and historic sites used in past wars. - ➤ Marylord Dansou, a first-generation American, was named Richmond Public Schools top 2025 valedictorian after earning a 5.3 GPA and will attend Virginia Tech this fall to study food science. She already earned a college degree from Reynolds Community College’s Early College Academy (she wants to fight food inequalities by addressing micronutrient deficiencies in West Africa). - ➤ The James River Association said the river’s health is still stalled at a B-minus and a score of 61—unchanged since 2015—because heavy rains are washing more dirt and chemicals into the water. The nonprofit urged the state to spend over $500 million to cut runoff that harms drinking water and fish populations. Richmond Times-Dispatch
