- ➤ Richmond Folk Festival returns to Browns Island for its 21st year with a revised festival site featuring six performance stages and eight announced artists from across the globe—showcasing music, dance, crafts, storytelling, and food. The free three-day event runs from Friday, October 10 at 6:30 p.m. through Sunday, October 12 and will enhance the evolving Downtown riverfront. 12 On Your Side
- ➤ The Richmond Folk Festival will take place October 10—October 12 with eight artists announced from across the country as part of its twenty-first year, and organizers said the free event will update its Downtown Richmond riverfront site to reflect recent changes. - ➤ Talking Heads frontman David Byrne will perform at the Altria Theater in Richmond on October 14 to support his new album Who Is the Sky+ the show will feature 13 musicians, singers and dancers. Tickets will go on sale on Friday, June 13. 6 News

- ➤ Richmond City Council confirmed Mayor Avula’s pick Odie Donald II as chief administrative officer with a 7—0 vote despite some councilors’ worry over the short notice given. Donald, who was selected after a five-month search, will start on July 9 with a $365,000 salary while councilors plan to meet him at Monday’s meeting. VPM
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ A rare tick-borne disease called babesiosis has slowly taken hold in Virginia and is caused by the parasite Babesia microti—similar to malaria. Health officials noted rising cases since 2016, especially on the Eastern Shore, and advise residents to prevent tick bites by using repellent and checking for ticks. VPM
