- ➤ Lego filed a permit with Henrico County for a 3700 square foot store at Short Pump Town Center as it builds local operations. The new store will be the company first local shop + it comes as Lego continues planning a large manufacturing facility in Chesterfield. 6 News
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Three former Cumberland Hospital patients alleged they were sexually assaulted by the facility’s former medical director, and a Richmond judge upheld most of the $360 million jury verdict while reducing each plaintiff’s punitive damages by $350,000 under Virginia’s cap—resulting in about $80,350,000 per patient. 6 News

- ➤ Weijia Pan won the 2025 Levis Reading Prize for his debut full-length poetry collection, Motherlands—selected by the VCU MFA in Creative Writing program. He will receive $5,000 and give a reading on Sept. 25 at 7 p.m. at James Branch Cabell Library Lecture Hall as a hybrid event both in person and online. Virginia Commonwealth University

- ➤ More than 200 students took part in the Taste Test Takeover in April, where they sampled new school meal options and rated Korean Chicken highest (141 responses) as part of a Student Advisory Council project. - ➤ Authorities are investigating Reginald Thomas, a former city employee, who spent over $2 million of city funds on three businesses—one registered to his home on Stevens Street in Henrico County and two to a residence on Harmsworth Drive in Dumfries. Officials expect the total spending under review to rise as the probe continues. Richmond Times-Dispatch
- ➤ Richmond officials released findings from a review of January's water crisis that showed an unclear chain of command and poor logistics—such as missed notifications for public showers and unstaffed water truck deliveries—hampered the emergency response. 6 News
- ➤ Henrico officials scrapped plans for a technology overlay district and now require developers to get board approval for new data centers. The new rules increase the distance between centers and homes to 500 feet — they also limit generator testing times and open a public hearing process for community input. Richmond Times-Dispatch
