CRIME NEWS

  • A knife-wielding suspect chased two men in Chester before he jumped from a third-floor apartment window Saturday night—he suffered life-threatening injuries and police arrived at 8 p.m. on Lorimer Road.  6 News
  • Police are investigating the fatal accident on the 10100 block of Hull Street Road Friday evening when an eastbound SUV struck a pedestrian who died at the scene—investigators are still determining if the driver remained.  12 On Your Side

CULTURE NEWS

  • Young performers in Midlothian brought Disney's Frozen to life on stage during a summer camp at Cadence Theatre Company held at Midlothian Middle School from June 2 to 13. The one-show event featured kids of all ages — including CBS 6 Crime Insider Jon Burkett's daughter as Queen Elsa — and gave them a creative alternative to pool activities.  6 News
  • The Elegba Folklore Society will hold a Juneteenth celebration to honor their ancestors while recognizing the historic role of Manchester Docks—also known as Ancarrow's Landing—in the slave trade from 1830 to 1860. GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • County officials in Henrico and Hanover held a joint meeting on Wednesday to review how their water systems are set up and discuss shared plans with Richmond's utility services. Henrico's system uses eight pressure zones and multiple valves while Hanover relies on four pressure zones and will evaluate a new treatment plant along the Pamunkey River—steps aimed at meeting future water demand.  Richmond Times-Dispatch
  • Data from several localities shows that red flag laws remain rarely used in central Virginia, with Richmond filing only five significant risk orders in 2024. Local law enforcement and prosecutors said they rely on other measures—like detention and protective orders—and noted that the law is still relatively new and not widely known among residents.  Richmond Times-Dispatch
