- ➤ Chesterfield County police arrested 20-year-old Darren R. Bailey Jr on Tuesday in connection with a road rage shooting on June 25 in the 10800 block of Hull Street Road where his vehicle fired at an occupied car near the intersection with Speeks Drive—leaving the victim with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound as investigators continue their case with help from the U.S. Marshals Service. 6 News

- ➤ After two large willow oak trees fell during a storm last week and landed on homes in a Northside neighborhood, the City of Richmond will review these trees for safety. A contractor will begin pruning storm-damaged trees early next week—if further issues are found, the city will remove or repair the trees as needed. 6 News

- ➤ A 12-story, $50 million apartment tower called The Bakery opened last month in Shockoe Bottom to help meet a 2021 report that said the area needs about 9,000 new homes to support growing businesses. Developers said future projects will need city approval and must overcome issues like flood plains and historic rules (which can slow changes) as the neighborhood slowly transforms.
