- ➤ Nearly 100 people met Tuesday, July 15, at Diversity Richmond to demand answers after a former employee accused a coworker of racism and sexual harassment. The town hall—led by moderator David Campt—brought staff, locals and supporters together to call for an apology and clear steps to prevent future harm. Richmond Free Press
ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ On Thursday morning, fire crews fought a house fire on Apple Orchard Road where heavy flames and smoke led to two firefighters suffering heat-related illnesses—one was taken to the hospital and the other treated on scene—causing two cats to die, a civilian to be treated for smoke inhalation and two residents to be displaced while the cause remains under investigation. 6 News

- ➤ Henrico County is doing planned maintenance on its water treatment facility from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. today—Richmond is boosting its water supply to Henrico so water service remains uninterrupted. 12 On Your Side
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ After a January fire displaced two West End dental practices, West Richmond Family Dentistry moved to Capital Dental Design at 6947 Forest Ave while Endodontic Partners began operating at 5500 Monument Ave and both plan to return to their original site by spring; Richmond dentists also raised funds through community support. Meanwhile, Richmond saw a 64.9% decline in overdose deaths from 2022 to 2024 and local health groups continue to expand care with new emergency and hospital expansion projects planned in Chesterfield County and the West End. - ➤ Ava Lester—an 11-year-old leukemia patient—has been named the Anthem LemonAid Ambassador and is raising funds to help kids with cancer by sharing her own story; CBS 6 Anchor GeNienne Samuels met with Ava and her family in Fredericksburg to cover her journey and fundraiser. The fundraiser aims to increase support for children who need help fighting the disease. 6 News
- ➤ Thomas Carley, a young Anthem LemonAid ambassador who beat leukemia after a three-year fight, now raises funds to help children battling cancer in Richmond. At 14 and cancer-free, he continues to inspire others to keep fighting—reminding everyone that every penny counts. 6 News
- ➤ Richmond has installed new vending machines at Marshall Plaza and Southside Plaza to provide 24 hour access to supplies such as naloxone, fentanyl test strips, and sanitary wipes for those facing substance use issues. The initiative is funded by settlement funds and the city will soon install another machine at the East End Library & aims to lower overdose deaths and reduce stigma. 6 News
