- ➤ Central Virginia residents raised $1.45 million for St. Jude through the Dream Home Giveaway, and the campaign was named campaign of the year on June 26. The draw featured a dream home in New Kent County and a Mazda 3 donated by Whitten Brothers + contributions from local partners. 12 On Your Side
- ➤ The Kara and Eden Project — a nonprofit started by Catherine Gioeli in 2023 — is offering Richmond pet owners free spay and neuter services to help reduce pet overpopulation amid a surge in shelter surrenders. RACC volunteers will provide rides for those without reliable transportation to reach these appointments. 6 News

- ➤ A Chesterfield massage therapist had his license suspended by the Virginia Board of Nursing after pleading guilty to felony aggravated sexual battery — he admitted to inappropriately touching a client during a December 2024 appointment at Hand and Stone Massage and Facial Spa, is out on bond, and will face sentencing on August 11 while he may contest the suspension at a hearing on September 11. 6 News
- ➤ A grand jury indicted former Bon Air staffer Rejea T.C. Cuffee of Richmond on five felony charges for the alleged sexual assault of a 15-year-old resident and indicted former staffer Franchesa S. Hunt plus two others for smuggling banned cell phones and drugs into the center after a six‐month probe found a plan to move contraband into the facility. Richmond Times-Dispatch

- ➤ VCU Brandcenter educators and industry leaders met at the Educators Summit during the 2025 Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity — discussing curriculum changes, AI integration and student well-being to prepare for a fast-changing advertising industry. - ➤ City officials still have not posted City Hall’s monthly spending online as required by law + Mayor Avula said he would explore launching an online portal when resources allow. Richmond Times-Dispatch
- ➤ Chesterfield County officials said ICE detainments at the courthouse have scared people from showing up in court as federal agents detained several individuals for minor traffic violations in June and again this week. Clerk Amanda Pohl said the increased activity has created a chilling effect on community trust — officials expect fewer witnesses and victims to appear — and that courthouse staff now face mounting challenges. 6 News
- ➤ Virginia SUN Bucks gives eligible families $120 per child for groceries to help fight childhood hunger this summer. Children automatically enroll if they received free or reduced-price meals or are in SNAP, TANF, or certain Medicaid programs (families not enrolled can apply by phone or mail) while benefits are issued on a rolling basis. 12 On Your Side
