GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Civil rights groups are asking a Richmond federal court to rule that Virginia’s practice of automatically stripping voting rights from those convicted of felonies violates the Virginia Readmission Act of 1870. - ➤ Henrico resident Curtis Brandon, a public educator, said Social Security mistakenly claimed he was overpaid by about $6,000, withheld his June check and demanded repayment without proper explanation. After his local field office meeting, he received a new letter that restored most of his monthly retirement benefits—though $561 was still withheld and he filed another reconsideration request. 6 News
