  • George Woltz, co-founder of the Martin & Woltz agency who helped create the 'Virginia is for Lovers' campaign, died on July 16 in Naples, Florida at age 92—he was known for his humble start and creative work that shaped Virginia tourism.   • VCU professor Charol Shakeshaft retired today after more than 40 years of teaching and research focused on education equity and school misconduct—she plans to spend time on her 30-acre property outside Ashland with horses and gardens before returning to work on equity issues.   • The Wrenn family from Richmond started Illume in 2019 after years of supporting their son Tucker, 32, who struggled with addiction and faced legal troubles.
