  • At Goochland County’s state prison farm, women inmates learned important lessons about trust and self-respect while caring for retired thoroughbred horses through the James River Horse Foundation program; peer recovery specialist Becky Owens said the work taught them patience and responsibility. Governor Glenn Youngkin and first lady Suzanne Youngkin awarded the program with the Spirit of Virginia award, and the initiative has rescued 80 horses (supporting prisoner reentry efforts).  Richmond Times-Dispatch

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Hanover County supervisors narrowly approved expanding the Ashcake Road Landfill on Wednesday after many residents spoke at a public meeting.
