- ➤ Peter Adler, known as Pete the Ramp Guy, built his 600th ADA ramp on August 1 in Chesterfield for Rodney Wyatt Jr., 22, who needed better access at home. He leads a volunteer crew through Project: Homes that works every weekend to help local residents with mobility issues. Richmond Times-Dispatch
ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ A young person was hospitalized after being pinned under a car on Interstate 95 in Henrico County at 3:30 a.m. Sunday near Parham Road, and the driver was charged with reckless driving — police said the crash blocked several hundred yards of the highway and may lead to additional charges as the investigation continues. 6 News

- ➤ On Saturday, hundreds gathered at the 17th Street Market for the annual 804 Day festival, where 10 local bands performed and dozens of food trucks offered food—Marshmallow was crowned as the festival's official dog ambassador. 6 News
- ➤ Richmond's 6th annual Egyptian Festival took place at St. George — St. Philopater Coptic Church and featured traditional music, dancing and cultural tours that explained Egyptian heritage to the community. All proceeds benefited the church while guests enjoyed traditional Egyptian food and shopped local vendor booths. 6 News

- ➤ Goochland County is proposing a technology overlay district and incentivizing technology zone along the Route 288 corridor to attract data centers and other tech companies while protecting rural areas—county officials plan to set new building height and noise standards along with offering financial incentives, and some residents worry about increased traffic and environmental risks. The proposal covers a five-mile stretch near West Creek Business Park and will require additional public input for projects that exceed set limits. Richmond Times-Dispatch
- ➤ Today, the Richmond School Board meets at 6 p.m. at City Hall to update on federal funding changes, staffing, and school construction—while a joint Charlottesville City Council–School Board meeting convenes at 4 p.m. to review school capacity and public housing concerns. Other meetings in Albemarle County and nearby counties later this week will discuss data center rules, local development, and water projects. VPM

- ➤ Researchers with the Virginia Cancer Screening Research Network have launched the Vanguard Study to test if multi-cancer detection tests can screen for ten types of cancer—participants must be aged 45–75 and have had no cancer in the past five years. The study aims to enroll 2,000 Virginians, including about 600 in the Richmond-metro area, and will use blood samples and surveys over three years to evaluate the tests’ effectiveness. 12 On Your Side
