  • Boot Barn will open a 14,500-square-foot store this fall at Westchester Commons in Chesterfield County — the national retailer known for cowboy boots and Western apparel expands its local presence.  6 News

CULTURE NEWS

  • Children’s Museum of Richmond invites families to explore the traveling exhibition 'From Here to There' at its downtown location, which is on view until Sept. 7. The exhibit offers hands-on activities — from floating model sailboats to riding a hovercraft — that teach basic physics like gravity and air pressure and is included with museum admission.  Richmond Magazine

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Fox Elementary reopened Wednesday for a tour by parents, students and community members after a fire in February 2022 burned the old building that lacked a sprinkler system. The $31 million renovation preserved parts of the original brickwork and doors—while adding a new reading nook and updated spaces—to show the community’s strength and need for more school upgrades.  6 News

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Dominion Energy will install 1,700 solar panels—on the new baseball stadium and in its parking lot—to produce 1 megawatt of power that can supply an estimated 250 homes at peak output. The project will need approval from the City of Richmond and the State Corporation Commission before it moves forward.  RVAHub

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Gov. Youngkin signaled flexibility to Richmond officials on the August 15 deadline to pay $5.8M in restitution to Marvin Grimm—Richmond Mayor Danny Avula said the city is moving swiftly to amend its budget and schedule a special Council meeting.  VPM
