- ➤ The Richmond Police arrested 25-year-old Tre’Shawn Robb on July 2 in Charlotte after a March shooting in which 24-year-old Zarkee Carter was fatally shot at a home in the 3800 block of Caulder Court and extradited him to Richmond on August 4 to face murder and several other charges. 12 On Your Side
- ➤ Richmond Police reported a woman was fatally shot in a South Richmond motel room on Midlothian Turnpike Monday morning at about 8:45 a.m.—the Medical Examiner will determine the cause of death and authorities ask anyone with information to come forward. 6 News

- ➤ Construction of a new elementary school in Chesterfield County reached a major milestone today with a topping off ceremony at a site near Deep Run High School in the Matoaca District — the school is set to open in August and will be one of the largest in Central Virginia. 6 News

- ➤ Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin issued his 52nd executive order on Monday to strengthen nursing home oversight by directing the health department to fill inspector vacancies by year's end and create a new complaint supervisor role alongside a public inspection portal. The order also establishes an advisory board — tasked with reviewing policy to improve care — to address inspection delays and rising consumer complaints. 6 News
- ➤ Richmond protestors are urging local politicians to strengthen immigrant protections after recent ICE raids — they emphasize that enhanced policies are needed to keep affected families safe. 12 On Your Side
- ➤ Virginia state leaders and the Department of Housing and Community Development unveiled the BEAD Final Proposal on August 6 to request $613 million in federal funding along with $434 million in private investment to connect 133,500 homes, businesses and community centers without reliable internet.
