  • Dr. Danielle Spencer, known as 'Dee' from What's Happening!!, died Monday night in Richmond after a long battle with breast cancer — she had fought the illness since 2014.  6 News
  • Maymont is hosting a two-day German-style festival on September 20 and 21 that will offer live music, specialty beers, and local food. Tickets are on sale now and proceeds will help care for the park — preserving this special landmark for the community.  RVAHub

  • The team behind The Veil Brewing Co. and Cochiloco launched Mosto Tequila, a new brand that blends a Richmond perspective with Mexican cultural ties. CRIME NEWS

  • The Richmond Police Department released a final review of the Monroe Park shootings following Huguenot High School’s graduation on June 6 — Amari Pollard pleaded guilty and received a 25-year sentence while two juveniles were charged with weapons violations after evidence showed they fired in defense, though it remains unclear who shot Renzo Smith.  12 On Your Side
  • Richmond Police Chief Rick Edwards provided new ballistic evidence and details on the June 2023 graduation shooting at Monroe Park that killed two and injured five—information released after the Commonwealth Attorney ruled out further charges.  6 News
  • Country singer Spencer Hatcher canceled shows after his mother, Holly Hatcher, was fatally stabbed during a home invasion on Aug 3 in Rockingham County — his father was injured during the attack — and shot the armed intruder in self-defense.  12 On Your Side

  • Richmond area schools use capstone projects to let students work on real-world challenges that teach research, teamwork and public speaking skills. HEALTH NEWS

  • Anchor Jasmine Turner, who gave birth in April, showed dangerous signs like high blood pressure and swelling—her husband checked her at home before taking her to St. Mary’s OB Emergency Department where she was treated for postpartum preeclampsia. The Preeclampsia Foundation urges moms to use home blood pressure cuffs since the condition can affect women even weeks after delivery.  12 On Your Side
