- ➤ O!nigiri, a local shop that sells grab-and-go Japanese snacks, has reopened in the West End at Olde Towne Shopping Center after closing in Carytown during the pandemic—owner Wakako Reno said the new space was chosen when her family needed work. Longtime customers returned since the soft reopening last week, and the shop now offers 10 kinds of supersize onigiri with fillings like spicy tuna, karaage, and walnut miso. 6 News

- ➤ Henrico Police are searching for 17-year-old Oshawn Hansley, last seen Monday, August 11 at 2 a.m. on Pathfinder Circle in Henrico with his family and friends worried for his safety as anyone with information (he is a Black male with brown hair and brown eyes, standing 6'2" and weighing about 160 pounds) is urged to call police at 804-501-5000 or 911. 6 News

- ➤ VCU paleoecologist Amy Rector uncovered five ancient teeth in Ethiopia’s Ledi-Geraru Project that show a new species of Australopithecus lived alongside early Homo between 2 and 3 million years ago—her team will next analyze the enamel to learn more about its diet. - ➤ VCU will welcome more than 4,500 first-year students this weekend as the Class of 2029 moves into residence halls, making it the second-largest freshman class in its history.
