  • Richmond’s WorkBench RVA is a membership workshop where people build custom furniture; Dalton Rudd opened the studio in Scott’s Addition after a flood led him to carpentry and to a need for a hands-on space.   • Tickets for the Tony Award-winning musical Kimberly Akimbo went on sale August 15 at 10 a.m. at the Altria Theater. The show will run from November 4—9 with ticket prices ranging from $53.10—$115.70.  6 News

  • Virginia Attorney General Jason Miyares sued the VA—seeking full G.I. Bill benefits for veterans who received only partial support—and said the move is needed to ensure veterans get the education benefits they earned.  12 On Your Side
  • The U.S. Supreme Court ruled in favor of a Richmond veteran who wants to use his GI benefits to further his education and become a chaplain — the decision confirms his right to pursue those benefits for his planned career.  Richmond Times-Dispatch

HEALTH NEWS

  • Richmond pediatrician Dr. Morgan Cheatham advised parents to delay giving young children cell phones and to limit social media use to protect mental health as students return to school (she works at Chippenham and Johnston-Willis hospitals). She warned that early exposure to screens may increase stress and anxiety.  6 News

LIFESTYLE NEWS

  • The Purrfect Bean, a new cat café at 214 N. Lombardy Street, opened on August 15, letting locals enjoy coffee, tea, and hot chocolate on the first floor before heading to the cat lounge with reservations.
