CRIME NEWS

  • Chesterfield County Police are searching for a missing 34-year-old Asian female last seen Friday morning from her home in the 13900 block of Sagewood Trace and who may be near the Wawa on Bailey Bridge Road — anyone with details is urged to call the department.  FOX Richmond

CULTURE NEWS

  • Richmond Comedy and Music Festival will take place at Diversity Richmond on Aug. 30 starting at 7 p.m. and will feature comedian Jud Howard along with acts like Erica Dee and Crystal Hopkins while DJ Baba Jibe provides music and local vendors serve food—attendees can bring their own alcohol and tickets cost $29 for general admission and $39 for VIP.  Richmond Magazine

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Starting in spring 2026, VCU School of Public Health will launch a fully online M.P.H. degree that offers working professionals a self-directed pace in completing the same 45-credit curriculum as the traditional program—providing access to experienced faculty and local agency connections without requiring Richmond residency.  Virginia Commonwealth University
  • VCU’s Trans-Atlantic Seminar paired local students with peers from a German university in a three-week summer program that examined urban planning challenges at Shockoe Bottom and Stuttgart—two places facing climate change and historic preservation issues.   • Federal inspectors will take direct oversight when the troubled Boar's Head plant reopens in Jarratt after last year's deadly listeria outbreak — the facility will face at least 90 days of enhanced monitoring to enforce its updated food safety plans.  6 News
  • Kansas-based Diode Ventures has withdrawn its proposal to rezone 515 acres for Roxbury Technology Park — the decision followed months of community concerns in Charles City County east of Richmond.  6 News
  • Virginia will receive more than $48 million in federal funding to upgrade 18 airports — projects include runway work, new hangars, and improved lighting that will boost safety and support long-term growth. The upgrades, funded through the FAA under the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, will benefit regional travel and commerce.  Virginia Mercury

HEALTH NEWS

  • The Children's Hospital of Richmond at VCU collected over 2,200 ounces of donated breast milk this August and will help nearly 9,000 vulnerable infants in Central Virginia — donors supported the drive during Breastfeeding Awareness Month to aid premature and critically ill babies.  6 News
