  • An 11-year-old bicyclist died after being struck by a vehicle while trying to cross Three Chopt Road in Henrico, and police said the driver remained at the scene—speed and alcohol were not factors in the crash.  12 On Your Side

  • Virginia Commonwealth University has renamed its Supplemental Instruction program to Peer Assisted Study Sessions — PASS — to offer weekly, peer-led study sessions in 29 subjects where up to 30 students collaborate closely, supported by trained student leaders.  Virginia Commonwealth University

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Richmond is taking steps to pay Marvin Grimm $5.8 million after he spent 45 years in jail for a murder he did not commit. City Council will use funds from delinquent tax sales to match a state requirement, with the proposal set for discussion at its September 2 meeting.  12 On Your Side
  • In a special meeting Monday, Richmond City Council addressed a $5.8 million payment to Marvin Grimm for 45 years of wrongful imprisonment after a coerced confession led to a murder conviction. City officials introduced legislation — with a vote scheduled early next month—to secure the funds following Grimm’s 2024 exoneration by DNA evidence.  6 News
