ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A 20-year-old Henrico man died in a single-vehicle crash on Chippenham Parkway near the Forest Hill interchange early Saturday — police say speed was a factor in the crash.  12 On Your Side

CRIME NEWS

  • Chesterfield County Police have taken over the investigation of former preschool teacher Richard Franklin Troshak III—33 from North Chesterfield—who was arrested by Colonial Heights Police on Friday at Chester Early Childhood Learning Academy and is charged with eight counts of manufacturing child pornography and two counts of indecent liberties with a child, while authorities work with local agencies to identify possible additional victims and his next court appearance is set for Sept. 25.  12 On Your Side
  • Richmond police say a 34-year-old woman, Johnnita Russell, was found dead with multiple gunshot wounds on Sunday night at 9:30 p.m. in the 500 block of Hunt Avenue—no suspects have been named.  12 On Your Side

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Henrico County leaders reported that new rules to limit vape shops are being bypassed as at least 16 stores opened without the required permits. County officials are investigating the issue and may raise park distance limits — as they work with state and federal agencies to protect underage youth.  6 News

SPORTS NEWS

  • Registration for the Allianz Richmond Marathon reached full capacity early this year with all 6,200 spots filled, showing rising local interest. Race organizers said capacity is fixed to ensure a quality experience and urged runners on waiting lists to register for upcoming events — a sign of growing local spirit — as more community members join in.  FOX Richmond
  • RVA Pro Wrestling held a sold-out event at Hardywood Park Craft Brewery on July 25 where hundreds of local fans gathered to cheer on championship matches. Local stars Timmy Danger, Erica Leigh, and Sledge Gibson connected with the crowd—fueling a uniquely Richmond experience.  VPM
