- ➤ A house fire broke out early Sunday in Chesterfield County and fire crews arrived at 8400 Leno Place at 4:22 a.m.—the homeowners escaped safely while one firefighter was taken to the hospital as a precaution and is expected to recover as investigators look into the cause. 12 On Your Side

- ➤ A Richmond restaurant, The Daily Menu, reopens this week at 1800 East Main Street—just one block from where a June fire destroyed its original Shockoe Bottom location. Owner Lance Nelson said the restaurant will offer the same menu and staff as it continues to serve the neighborhood with renewed promise. 6 News
- ➤ Altria and Reynolds will launch new smokeless tobacco products without waiting for FDA approval—Altria will offer its onPLUS! pouches this fall from its South Richmond plant and Reynolds will introduce a disposable vape called Vuse One later this year as tobacco control advocates express concern. - ➤ Two people were injured in a shooting on Southside Sunday evening—police responded shortly after 6:05 p.m. to the 5100 block of Midlothian Turnpike near Covington Road where detectives began investigating. 6 News
- ➤ On August 31, Richmond Police responded to reports of shots fired near 5200 Old Midlothian Turnpike just after 6 p.m.—a teen and an adult were shot in a drive-by with non-life threatening injuries. 12 On Your Side

- ➤ Richmond residents gathered last Saturday at Midtown Green for the 18th annual Latin Jazz and Salsa Festival, which featured music, food, a car show, and vendors—an event designed to celebrate Latino culture. Organizer Luish Idalgo said the free festival promoted unity and welcomed people from across central Virginia. 6 News
- ➤ Richmond’s design scene will offer a busy week with events planned for community members, including John Emil’s mini-concert at The Branch on Sept. 10 and a Sender Vans tour in Scott’s Addition on Sept. 24.
