- ➤ The SpeakUp 5k event took place in Richmond with local runners participating as photographer Devyn Vernier captured the highlights—showing the community coming together for a lively race. 6 News
- ➤ Hundreds gathered at Richmond Raceway Saturday morning for the annual 9/11 stair climb—an event that honored the 2,977 lives lost and the first responders who climbed the Twin Towers. Participants climbed stairs representing the 110 stories of the towers as a tribute to those affected by the attacks. 6 News
- ➤ On September 6, around 80 runners in Chesterfield joined the 9/11 Heroes Run to honor 9/11 victims, veterans, and first responders by carrying flags and honor bibs. The annual event, organized by Cassandra Pike with the Travis Manion Foundation, marked its 18th year with personal dedications such as runner Donna Schultz running for fallen soldier First Sergeant Charles Warren and aimed to educate the next generation about the tragedy. 12 On Your Side

- ➤ On Friday, a weak national jobs report showed the U.S. economy added only 22,000 jobs in August and revised June figures, raising concerns in Virginia over tariffs, federal workforce cuts, cancelled grants, and rising inflation — factors that have left the state’s job market soft. Virginia officials noted the uncertainty may lead the Federal Reserve to cut interest rates in future meetings while experts warned that the job market will likely remain weak as unemployment has risen for seven consecutive months. - ➤ Officials lowered the speed limit on a three-mile stretch of Midlothian Turnpike (between Hull Street and Belt Boulevard) from 35 mph to 30 mph. Richmond Times-Dispatch
- ➤ GOP candidates Earle-Sears and Reid held a campaign event at Mexican Mariscos El Barco in Chesterfield on Saturday—speaking to about 100 Latino voters about lower taxes, reduced crime, and job growth.
