- ➤ CBS 6 chief meteorologist Zach Daniel’s dog Stanley raised over $23,000 for the Richmond Animal League’s calendar contest in honor of his brother Walter—who died in early August after a battle with lymphoma—and helped set a record with more than $93,600 raised for shelter pets. Stanley now appears with Zach during CBS 6 News at 5 and 6 p.m. 6 News
- ➤ Hanover County has opened a 4.8-mile section of the Fall Line Trail that connects Ashland to Henrico, with a celebration held in Ashland on Wednesday. The new trail is part of a planned 43-mile corridor that will be completed by 2030—linking communities from Ashland to Petersburg. 6 News
- ➤ Several Richmond organizations protested Fox News host Brian Kilmeade’s appearance at Dominion Energy Center on Wednesday because he made controversial comments about mentally ill homeless people during his History, Liberty and Laughs Tour — he later apologized for his callous remark. The protest also involved collecting donations to support the local homeless community. 6 News
