- ➤ A fatal shooting Saturday night near VSU’s Multipurpose Center caused a campus lockdown until 2 a.m.—police said the victim, who was not a student, died at the scene while VSU sophomore Bernard Boone later found solace by the Appomattox River. 6 News

- ➤ The Valentine Museum is asking for community nominations for the 21st Annual Richmond History Makers program to honor individuals and organizations making a positive difference, with nominations open until November 30. - ➤ Local government leaders in Richmond, Henrico, Petersburg, Charlottesville, and nearby counties will meet this week to discuss an affordable housing grant for a 246-unit development, changes to the RPS collective bargaining process, redistricting plans, and budget and development proposals. Richmond City Council holds its special meeting today at City Hall at 4 p.m. + other councils and boards are scheduled to act through Oct. 22. VPM
- ➤ Virginia lawmakers have stalled stronger rules to protect ratepayers from rising electric bills and environmental harm from growing data centers—tech companies and local governments have opposed tougher measures.
